The optical design features three high-precision glass-molded aspherical elements combined with one Special Low Dispersion (SLD) element. Together, they minimize the total number of elements while delivering excellent optical performance without adding extra weight. Autofocus is fast and quiet thanks to the stepping motor, making it ideal for video recording and capturing fast-moving subjects such as children and animals.

Highly versatile, the lens also features a minimum focusing distance of just 4.8″, enabling macro-style close-up shooting, along with a rounded seven-blade diaphragm for smooth, pleasing bokeh.
