RØDE NTG2 Overview

Featuring low handling noise, the ability to handle loud sound sources without distortion, and compatibility with battery or phantom power, the NTG2 offers a versatile and budget-friendly solution for recording crisp dialogue and sound effects.

The NTG2’s high sensitivity allows it to deliver strong output levels without requiring excessive gain on your microphone preamp. Sonically, the NTG2 provides consistent clarity thanks, in part, to its smooth high-frequency boost and a selectable low-cut filter that reduces background rumble. Its durable and lightweight high-grade aluminum housing features a rugged epoxy paint finish to withstand the demands of location recording.

Quality Sound Capture

The combination of the NTG2’s 11-inch (28 cm) body and its supercardioid polar pattern provides precise front-facing directionality and enhanced attenuation of sound coming from the sides. Its low self-noise of 18 dBA and sensitive condenser element deliver detailed audio, free from the hiss that plagues many budget microphones. Additionally, its balanced output allows for longer cable runs than most on-camera shotgun microphones.

Battery or Phantom Powered

Thanks to its 3-pin XLR output and operation via 48V phantom power or a single AA battery, the NTG2 is compatible with a variety of portable audio recorders, field recorders, and mixer adapters, as well as built-in preamps on cameras and camcorders.

Ideal for Boompole Mounting

The NTG2 includes a mic clip for easy placement on a stand or boompole. You can also mount it on the Rode SM4-R shockmount or the Rode PG2-R pistol grip (both available separately) to minimize vibration transmission in boompole or handheld applications.

Windscreen Minimizes Wind Noise

The NTG2 features a foam windscreen to reduce wind noise from light breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners. For maximum reduction of handling and wind noise indoors or outdoors, consider the Rode Blimp synthetic fur windshield and shockmount suspension system (available separately).
