Ready for Anything
Ideal for wedding videographers, drone camera operators, and multimedia journalists who require professional photography and cinematic video production, the Canon EOS R5 C mirrorless cinema camera offers a new type of shooting experience. With a simple switch, the R5 C is a full-featured still photo camera with all the settings of the EOS R5 mirrorless camera. When switched to the other mode, it becomes a full-frame 8K60 Cinema EOS camera that records internally in 12-bit Cinema RAW Light format. There is no need to carry a second camera for your production when both photos and video are available in a single compact design.

The R5 C enhances several features compared to its related models R5 and C70, including 4K120 recording, HDMI RAW output, support for Canon Log 3 HLG/PQ, unlimited recording time, a timecode port, Dual Pixel CMOS AF with eye detection, an active cooling system, a high-power LP-E6NH battery, 13 reassignable buttons, and a multi-function shoe for XLR adapters. The camera also retains reliable features from those models, including Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, compatibility with DaVinci Resolve and Canon apps, RF electronic mount, CFexpress/SD card slots, a similar button layout, and more. The EOS R5 C is also dust- and moisture-resistant to the same level as its cinema counterpart, the EOS C70. All of this is packed into a compact 1.5 lb body ready to become your go-to drone camera.

Common Features & Technology with the EOS R5
Canon’s 45MP full-frame CMOS image sensor is at the core of the EOS R5 C’s outstanding image quality, enabling impressive 8K60 RAW cinematic video recording.

  • Focus and speed are essential in the EOS R5 C, offering continuous still image capture up to 20 fps

  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF II capability to track split-second movements, even of challenging subjects

  • With 1053 automatic AF zones, it is easy to photograph people using Eye, Face, and Head Detection AF, or intuitively track the entire body, face, or eyes of cats, dogs, or birds with Animal Detection AF

  • For those who need speed, Canon has also included vehicle detection for still images, assisting with accurate tracking of cars and motorcycles

  • Connectivity such as 5 and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is also included for image transfer

Video Control for Dedicated Professionals
As soon as the EOS R5 C’s main switch is moved to the “video” position, the familiar Cinema EOS menu system and interface take over. Advanced video features, including waveform monitors, codec options, and extensive audio control, become available, significantly expanding the video capabilities for experienced operators or content creators. During “photo” mode, menus are nearly identical to those of the EOS R5.

Ergonomic EOS Design
The EOS R5 C body design is extremely compact and lightweight. When paired with a Canon RF lens (or EF lens using the EF-EOS R adapter), it delivers outstanding performance and fits comfortably in hand, making handheld shooting easy for both video and still photography. Its electronic viewfinder is optically extended for eye-level viewing, similar to the EOS R5, and uses the same ergonomic grip design.

CMOS Sensor and DIGIC X Processor
The 8K CMOS sensor and DIGIC X processor produce high-quality video up to 8K60. The use of Cinema RAW Light format enables internal recording without the need for an external recorder. The EOS R5 C supports HDR recording in HLG and PQ formats, ensuring full color reproduction and a wide dynamic range.

8K60 RAW Recording
Cinema RAW Light in 8K is ideal for post-production and archiving, or MP4 optimized for online use. Internal recording is also available in 5.9K (Super 35 mm) and 2.9K (Super 16 mm). RAW files have been optimized to achieve 12-bit recording at all frame rates. Three RAW modes allow selection based on shooting needs. Lighter proxy files can also be recorded simultaneously.

The EOS R5 C supports RAW output via HDMI and ProRes RAW recording with compatible external recorders.

Different File Formats and Simultaneous Recording
In addition to Cinema RAW Light, it supports XF-AVC and MP4. It also allows simultaneous recording of two video files at different resolutions, including proxy files.
