Canon R6 Mark III Overview: The Super Hybrid

Designed as a high-performance all-around camera for creators working in both photography and video, the Canon EOS R6 Mark III efficiently combines a wide range of hybrid capabilities, imaging improvements, and an optimized design to meet the needs of professionals in various shooting scenarios. A new 32.5MP sensor paired with the DIGIC X processor enables 7K recording, continuous shooting up to 40 fps, an improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system with registered people priority, more robust 8.5-stop image stabilization, and compatibility with both CFexpress Type B and SD memory cards for flexible storage.

32.5MP Full-Frame Sensor and DIGIC X Processing

Featuring a 34% increase in resolution compared to the previous generation, it incorporates a 32.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor that delivers greater sharpness, improved print quality, and enhanced cropping flexibility. This sensor works alongside the DIGIC X processor to provide excellent image quality, low noise, and a wide sensitivity range. It also manages the Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system, continuous shooting, video recording, and IBIS functions.

Inspired by the R3, the enhanced processing enables high-speed bursts and 7K video. The DIGIC X supports up to 40 fps with a silent electronic shutter or 12 fps with a mechanical shutter, with AF and AE readings taken before each frame. It also features a pre-continuous shooting mode that allows capturing up to 20 frames before fully pressing the shutter button.

SCN Shooting Modes

Designed for beginners or those seeking convenience, SCN modes automatically adjust exposure based on the scene: Portrait, Smooth Skin Portrait, Group Photo, Landscape, Panorama, Sports, Kids, Panning, Close-up, Food, Night Portrait, Handheld Night Scene, HDR Backlight Control, and Silent Shutter.

7K Video Recording

The camera supports internal 7K recording up to 60p in 12-bit Canon RAW Light. With external recording, it supports up to 7K 30p in ProRes RAW.

4K FINE mode uses oversampling to improve quality in DCI 4K and UHD 4K in XF AVC S format.

Open Gate 3:2 recording in 7K 30p (10-bit MP4 or 12-bit RAW) is ideal for social media content, offering greater flexibility for cropping into vertical or custom formats.

Supports 4K recording up to 119.8p for up to 5x slow motion. In DCI 2K and Full HD, up to 179.8p is supported. Audio is available in all modes except S&F.

Includes Slow & Fast Motion mode with control over resolution, frame rate, and playback speed.

LUTs and Color Control

Canon Log 2 provides over 15 stops of dynamic range.
